Globalne wyzwania, lokalne rozwiązaniaW dniach 3–4 marca 2025 roku Mikołajki stały się samorządowym sercem Polski. Jubileuszowa edycja Europejskiego Kongresu Samorządów zgromadziła ponad 2600 uczestników, którzy debatowali o cyfryzacji, ochronie środowiska, zrównoważonym rozwoju oraz przyszłości lokalnych społeczności w dobie globalnych wyzwań.
Głównym celem wydarzenia była wymiana doświadczeń i poszukiwanie odpowiedzi na bieżące problemy samorządów, w tym finansowanie projektów regionalnych i korzystanie z funduszy unijnych. W czasie sesji plenarnych – zwłaszcza tej zatytułowanej „Globalne wyzwania – lokalne rozwiązania” – podkreślano znaczenie współpracy rządu z samorządami w obszarze cyfryzacji, bezpieczeństwa oraz modernizacji infrastruktury. Dyskutowano także o skutkach agresji Rosji na Ukrainę i konieczności wsparcia regionów przygranicznych.
Podczas gali pierwszego dnia nagrodzono wyróżniających się przedstawicieli lokalnych władz. Statuetki „Mieszkańcy w zasięgu”, przyznawane przez Polską Izbę Informatyki i Telekomunikacji, odebrali wójtowie: Jacek Pawluk (Tereszpol), Tomasz Klimczak (Pacyna) i Daniel Szpręga (Czersk). Uhonorowano też Zbigniewa Tura, wójta gminy Kłodzko (Nagroda Specjalna EKS), oraz Adama Struzika, wieloletniego marszałka województwa mazowieckiego (Samorządowiec Roku).
Drugi dzień Kongresu zamknęła debata podsumowująca, w której dominowały wątki roli technologii w efektywnym zarządzaniu i zapobieganiu kryzysom. Nawiązywano do konieczności wspierania mniejszych jednostek samorządu w dostosowywaniu się do dyrektyw dotyczących cyberbezpieczeństwa. Zwieńczeniem całości było uroczyste spotkanie, podczas którego podkreślono znaczenie dialogu między różnymi szczeblami władzy i rolę kultury – obecnej choćby dzięki występowi orkiestry akademickiej – w integrowaniu lokalnych społeczności.
